Driving home from Provo last weekend, I saw some fireworks being set off. I'm guessing they were coming from the baseball stadium, the name of which escapes me for the moment. I just know it's not Derks Field anymore.
As I watched them, I began wondering why I've never attended Stadium of Fire. Then I started thinking of some other things I've never done:
--I've never attended a General Conference session in person.
--I never went to EFY. (I didn't even know what it is until my senior year of high school. But I do own pirated cassettes of most of the '90s EFY soundtracks.)
--I've never been skiing.
--I've never hiked the "Y."
Considering I've lived all of my life as a Mormon, most of that life in Utah, and a huge chunk of that Utah time in Provo, which of these nevers is the most surprising? I've also never posted a poll on my blog's sidebar, and don't plan to now, so just leave your answers in the comments.

I've also never been skiing, I never went to EFY, I've never hiked the "Y," AND I've never been to Lake Powell. Beat THAT sucker!:)
My vote is never been to General Conference in person.
My vote is General Conference. And I've never been skiing before (snowboardind though), been to Stadium of Fire, and I never went to EFY.
Having lived in Utah for a great deal of my life, I can relate on not doing some of those things:
-The first time I went to general conference was in April of 2009... and I wound up watching the television screens the whole time.
-I didn't know EFY existed until I came to BYU. I always thought it was some big concert that catered to LDS kids where all the LDS musicians performed because everyone seemed to have that CD.
-I went skiing twice: once when I was six and again when I was seven. I gave up after my dad fell on top of me while getting off of the lift and the next day I was so stiff I couldn't move.
-I never hiked the Y. All of my family who has attended BYU has never hiked the Y. I'm pretty sure I'm just going to tell my kids some day that it's a family tradition not to hike the Y and if they break it, they'll get written out of their inheritance.
I would have been surprised that you weren't forced at some point in your life to go skiing, but knowing that you were a sickly youngling downplays that surprise.
Not attending a General Conference session in person actually isn't at all surprising--it's much harder to get tickets if you're a townie.
The only reason I've gone is because my friend's dad is a stake president back East.
I'm going to go with Stadium of Fire--like, you haven't even sat on the hill and watched?
Also, I was BORN in Provo, and I've never done the rest of the things on your list.
Wow, those are all pretty incredible surprises. But maybe the most surprising is... never a conference session? not even one? yeah that is surprising.
Also: Lavell Edwards stadium. Duh.
I've done all those things, but I've never seen Titanic.
Susie: I've been to Lake Powell once, so I guess you're a worse Utahn than me. Also, neither of us have seen a midget wrestling match in Ephraim, but not for lack of trying.
Tiffany: Yes, I have seen Stadium of Fire from outside the stadium.
Angela: I meant the baseball field in Salt Lake City.
David: I have never seen Titanic either. To quote Ned Flanders, "You name it, I haven't done it."
i'm most surprised you've never hiked Y mountain--but don't worry, my dozens of treks up and down that lovely peak compensate easily for your lack of them. and in case you care, the hike is a pretty good one, though it's nothing to be particularly upset about missing...
"Pirated EFY cassettes" is simultaneously the lamest thing in the world and the most punk rock. Wait, it's just the lamest thing in the world.
